Priority WA Industry Sector – Building and Construction


▸ Occupations available: 326! Find your occupation in the WA list!
▸ Highest EOI Points Score: Showcase your expertise and increase your chances!
▸ Oldest EOI Submission Date: The earlier, the better!

Key Industries:

  • Mining Industry: Dominated by the extraction of iron ore, gold, and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
  • Agriculture and Food Industry: Key crops include wheat, barley, and canola, as well as livestock farming.
  • Tourism: Attracts tourists with natural attractions such as Ningaloo Reef and the Kimberley region.
  • Education and Training: Welcomes international students in major cities like Perth.
  • Technology and Innovation: Growing sectors include renewable energy and tech startups.

Main criteria for applications:

  • Occupation on the WA State List: A total of 326 occupations.
  • Positive skills assessment in the occupation from the list and 65+ points.
  • English language requirements starting from IELTS 6.0 or an equivalent exam.
  • No application fee.
  • Main application streams:


General Stream:
A skilled migration pathway for various occupations. Eligible occupations are listed on the Western Australia Skilled Migration Occupation List (WASMOL) Schedule 1 or 2.

Graduate Stream: A skilled migration pathway for international students completing vocational education and training (VET) or higher education in Western Australia. Eligible occupations are listed on the Graduate Occupation List (GOL).

  • WASMOL 1: 89 occupations, WASMOL 2: 188 occupations, Graduate Stream: 331 occupations.
  • Requirement to have a job contract for applicants from General Stream WASMOL Schedule 1 & 2 (Except occupations from Building & Construction)

General criteria:

Applicants from Overseas / Other States (General Stream 1 & 2):

  • Subclass 190: With a job contract (except for occupations in Building & Construction)
  • Subclass 491: Without a job contract

 

Applicants from WA (General Stream 1 & 2):

  • Subclass 190: With a job contract (except for occupations in Building & Construction)
  • Subclass 491: Without a job contract

 

Applicants from WA (Graduate Stream):

  • Subclass 190 / 491 without a job contract

Priority Selection Criteria – General Stream EOI:

  • currently residing in Western Australia
  • currently residing offshore or in another Australian state or territory
  • occupations in priority WA Industry sectors (in no particular order):
    • building and construction;
    • healthcare and social assistance;
    • hospitality and tourism; and
    • education and training.
  • occupations in all other WA industry sectors
  • highest EOI points score
  • oldest EOI submission date
