Great news for doctors!
Legislative changes have been announced: the nomination and sponsorship process for doctors in certain occupations has been simplified to alleviate the administrative burden on health workforce certifiers and streamline visa processing for employers and visa applicants.
As a result, the requirement for employers wishing to sponsor overseas trained doctors on SC 482 and SC 494 visas and for employers wishing to nominate for SC 186 and SC 187 to provide a Health Workforce Certificates (HWC) or Health Workforce Exemption Certificates (HWEC) was removed.
These changes apply only to doctors in the following specialties:
This Instrument commenced on 16 September 2023 and apply in relation to a nomination made, but not yet finally determined, on that date.
