We all know that lying is wrong. It’s one of those universal truths, right? Even kids get it. And visa officers, who review cases and make decisions, definitely do too.
Today’s story is about how a few fake months of living together ended up costing over $9,000 and added two extra years of waiting. Curious yet?
As you may guess, this story is about a partner visa. This kind of applications, along with all the relationship evidence, go under a microscope in DOHA. A lot of people think, “Who’s going to find out?” But believe me, the Department has its ways…
So, here’s what went down with our clients. They met on vacation in a third country, kept in touch for a while, and in 2023, the applicant even visited their new love in Australia. Actually, it was our first visa case together.
After that trip, they decided to apply for a partner visa and came back to us, saying they loved our transparent processes, clear guidance, and attention to detail (thanks, guys!). While putting together their documents and crafting their love story, they decided to make it a little more compelling by adding “just a few extra months” of living together.
The truth came out six months later when the officer sent a “natural justice” letter, asking them to explain some discrepancies between their written story and the facts received in a phone interview. That’s when they had to come clean and tell me all the true. We immediately withdrew the application to avoid a refusal and started building a new strategy – this time, with honesty and authenticity at the heart of it.
Now, the applicant is heading back to Australia on a Visitor visa to gather more evidence for resubmitting the application. But this time, they’re doing it the right way, with a truthful story.
So, here’s a question to discuss in comments guys! Is it really worth the risk to embellish the truth in hopes of a quicker success? Or is it better to stick to the honest path, even if it’s more challenging and takes longer?
