Updated work experience requirements. Visa 482

As part of the migration updates in August, some work experience requirements for applying for the Temporary visa SC 482 were amended.

These changes have made the requirements more flexible, allowing more skilled professionals to consider employer-sponsored visas:

  1. The requirement for work experience to be gained within the last 5 years has been removed.
  2. The department will now consider casual employment for work experience as well. While full-time employment is preferred, it’s no longer mandatory.
  3. The changes also state that the period of work experience doesn’t have to be continuous.

Please note: Starting from November 23, 2024, the required 2 years of relevant work experience will be reduced to 1 year.

However, these changes are not yet reflected on the official Department of Home Affairs website or have been incorporated into migration legislation. Thus, let’s take it as a very promising proposal but not consider it as a gold ticket for everyone.

Remember, registered migration agents always rely on the legislation during their work, while the DOHA website is merely an informational tool for potential candidates to get a basic understanding in the sea of complex migration information.
