NSW Skilled Migration News.

NSW uses a selection-based invitation process to ensure that NSW nominees are aligned to the skills needs of the state’s economy. You cannot directly apply. After receiving an invitation, the visa application and all documents must be submitted within 14 days.

❗️Only onshore applicants from particular skilled occupation lists are allowed for the EOI submission.

 

PERMANENT VISA 190 – nomination criteria:

In addition to the standard requirements for English exam, age, and a minimum of 65 points, you must provide valid skills assessment in the profession from the target sector of the state.

The list of occupations for visa 190 was formed within the ANZSCO unit groups. It means any profession that belongs to this group will be relevant for the nomination.

❗️Applicant must be employed in NSW in the nominated profession OR

❗️reside in the state for at least 3 months.

Typically, candidates with the highest rating are selected for the visa (last year minimum score was 90-95+ points).

 

TEMPORARY VISA 491 – criteria for 3 streams of nomination:

Stream 1 is for those who live and work in Regional NSW in one of the designated areas for at least 12 months in a nominated or related assessed occupation from the Combined List for Stream 1.

Stream 2 is for those who have recently (no later than 24 months) completed their studies at the Regional NSW, and also lived in the designed region during studies, when they received a qualification closely related to the nominated profession, which as well as must be included in list of professions in the region for streams 2 and 3.

Stream 3 is for those with qualifications in the occupation required by the Regional NSW. You must reside in Australia and have a skills assessment listed for Streams 2 and 3.

INVITATION ROUNDS

For 190 visa invitation rounds occur ongoing throughout the Australian financial year. There are no set dates, and they are not announced beforehand.

For 491 visas submission windows are the months of October, January, and March. Invitations will be sent within the next 7 days after the window will be closed for applications.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • If you are invited to apply for NSW nomination, application fees are A$330.
  • NSW will not renominate applicants who are subject to a section 48 bar where their nomination has expired and they are unable to leave Australia.
  • As long as you maintain a valid EOI in SkillSelect, you will participate in future rounds of invitations.
  • Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not mean you will be invited by NSW because of the extreme high demand and limited available places.
