Currently, the state is accepting and processing applications from onshore candidates. Offshore applications have been temporarily suspended. Existing offshore applications will continue to be assessed.
New applications from overseas candidates will be re-open with revised settings for offshore applications by 12 August 2024. Updated requirements for candidates and other details will be published closer to this date.
All candidates must meet minimum criteria (age, points, occupation), as well as additional state requirements.
Nomination for visa SC190: graduates who have completed 2 years of study in NT and have been residing in NT on a graduate visa 485 or a related bridging visa, have lived for at least 6 months after completing their studies, demonstrating genuine intentions to seek employment in NT and enhance expertise in the nominated occupation.
Nomination for visa SC491: graduates who have completed 2 years of study in NT, demonstrated genuine intentions to seek employment in NT and enhance expertise in the nominated occupation. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate progress in job search during and after their studies.
Nomination for visa SC190: holders of a temporary visa with full work rights, all applicants have resided in NT for at least 2 years, working full-time in a nominated or closely related occupation in NT for at least 2 years, and have a job for the next 12 months.*
*None of the applicants must be on a student visa. Employment requirements: the employer has been in business for at least 12 months in NT, position in NT with an official office, and market salary.
Nomination for visa subclass 491: holders of a temporary visa with full work rights, all applicants have resided in NT for at least 12 consecutive months, working full-time in a nominated or closely related occupation in NT for the last 6 months and have a job for the next 12 months.*
*None of the applicants are on a student visa, employment requirements: the employer has been in business for at least 12 months in NT, a position in NT with an official office, and market salary.
The overseas applicant must have an occupation from the Northern Territory Offshore Migration Occupations List (NTOMOL) and the meet requirements of work experience specified for each occupation on the list.
The overseas applicant must have a relative in NT, who can be: an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, holder of visa 489/491/494 or a bridging visa linked to visas 887/191, residing in NT for at least 12 months. They may be a member of a family (children, parents, grandparents, siblings, nieces and nephews, first cousins).
The overseas applicant must have a verifiable job offer in the nominated occupation from a business operating for at least 12 months, located in NT, and offering a position in NT.
The Northern Territory state published additional conditions on all skilled visa candidates. For example, living and working in the state in the nominated or a closely related occupation for at least three years from visa grant.
