ANZSCO Update 2021

Due to increased criticism that the ANZSCO is slow to be updated and does not reflect emerging occupations, the Australian Bureaus of Statistics is trialling new methods to refresh ANZSCO. This is the fourth revision since ANZSCO was established in 2006. It has been undertaken in respect of the Australian labour market only.

The ANZSCO 2021, Australian Update reflects a review of occupations associated with the following four areas:

  • agriculture, forestry and fisheries
  • cyber security
  • naval ship building, and
  • emerging occupations identified by the National Skills Commission.

It is noteworthy that the National Skills Commission not only identified 25 new professions, but also provide some statistic data, such as gender, age, salary, employment level, education and key skills of specialists in these occupations.
