Hey everyone! Today we’ll talk about a rather interesting topic – what is a BAN from the Department of Home Affairs and what it means. In meantime, a lot of thanks to my followers for your inspiration and interesting questions!
So, a BAN means a restriction on an applicant to apply for an Australian visa during a specific period. There are many reasons for a ban, varying timeframes, and visa types affected. Today, we'll break down the most common scenario I've encountered in my 14 years of migration practice.
Scenario: submitting false documents
This happens most often with tourist and student visas. Applicants try to strengthen their application by exaggerating their work experience or income / savings. They might claim a job they didn’t have or inflate their bank savings. In such cases, applicants will initially receive a letter from the officer called “natural justice,” asking for an explanation of the suspicious situation.
