Migration update QLD 2024-2025

Requirements for stream: 

• Must live and work in the state in a nominated or closely related occupation for at least 30 hours a week for at least 6 months for the 190 visa and 3 months for the 491 visa after obtaining qualifications.
• At the time of submitting an EOI, must be employed in a position that meets the above criteria.
• Must have proof of continued employment for the next 12 months for the 190 visa and 6 months for the 491 visa.
• English is at a Proficient level (no less than 7 in IELTS or its equivalent).
• Occupation must be on the main SOL list, focusing on Queensland’s growing industries.
• However, there is a list of occupation that cannot be nominated for the visa 190.

Queensland’s growing industries:

• Energy 
• Construction and infrastructure 
• Healthcare and social assistance 
• Education 
• Professional services 
• Agribusiness 
• Tourism and hospitality 
• Transport 

Requirements for stream: 

• Must have completed a bachelor’s degree or higher at any university in QLD
• Have graduated after 1 July 2022
• Study field must be relevant to priority fields for graduates
• Occupation must be on the main SOL list.
• English is at a Proficient level (no less than 7 in IELTS or its equivalent).
• Must live and work in QLD in any Skill level 1 occupation for at least 30 hours a week for at least 6 months for the 190 visa and 3 months for the 491 visa after obtaining qualifications.
• At the time of submitting an EOI, must be employed in a position that meets the above criteria.
• Must have proof of continued employment for the next 12 months for the 190 visa and 6 months for the 491 visa.

Priority fields for graduates:

• Agriculture and Environment,
• Engineering and Related Technologies,
• Education,
• Health,
• Information Technology,
• Natural and Physical Sciences.

Requirements for stream: 

• Must have at least 5 years of skilled employment experience in nominated occupation or a closely related occupation.
• English is at a Proficient level (no less than 7 in IELTS or its equivalent).
• Must have a occupation from QSOL list for overseas candidates.
• As occupations in the energy industry are priority, such candidates are required to have 3 years of relevant experience in a priority occupation within the energy sector.

Requirements for stream:  Path 1

• Must have purchased an existing registered business outside South East Queensland for at least 100,000 AUD.
• Must have at least one resident/Australian citizen working at least 20 hours a week (or two residents working at least 10 hours a week each).
• Only sole 100% ownership of the business is allowed.
• Candidate must manage the business for at least 6 months before submitting an EOI.
• Business postal codes for businesses purchased after 1 September 2024: 4370-4390, 4400-4428, 4454-4498, 4570-4571, 4580-4895.
• Business postal codes for businesses purchased before 1 September 2024 – a full list of regional indices for the visa 491.
• Only applications for the 491 visa are allowed.
• Candidate’s occupation must be on the SOL for the visa 491.

Requirements for stream: Path 2

• Candidate must start their own business and continuously manage it for at least 2 years.
• The business must be profitable and have a turnover of 200,000 AUD in the 12 months prior to submitting an EOI.
• Only sole 100% ownership of the business is allowed.
